After a long list of memorable accomplishments over the past two months, it is time for you to decide who was the very best of the best. We have selected six outstanding male and female finalists for our BlueStreak-Ruden Report Spring Player of the Year awards.
The winners will receive a custom-made long-sleeve T shirt with name and uniform number on the back.
The voting closes at noon on Wednesday.
Here are the male finalists, who were all named to the All-FCIAC and All-State teams, and their accomplishments (based on information submitted by coaches).
Mekhi Barnett, Westhill Track: Barnett won the discus at the FCIAC, Class LL and State Open championships.
Billy Black, Wilton Baseball: Black was 5-1, with an 0.75 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings.
Ben Casparius, Staples Baseball: Casparius, the Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year, batted .488, with 10 home runs, 36 RBIs, 40 hits, 33 runs scored and had a 5-2 record with a 2.22 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 47 1/3 innings.
Tyler Gleen, Trumbull Track: Green won the 400 meters at the FCIAC championship and the 800 at the Class LL, State Open and New England championships.
Kevin Lindley, Darien Lacrosse: Lindley finished with 106 goals and 28 assists, breaking team records for goals and total points in a season, and career goals.
Bailey Savio, Greenwich Lacrosse: Savio won 301 of 390 draw controls, had 225 ground balls, 9 goals and 3 assists.
Here are the female finalists, who were all named to the All-FCIAC and All-State teams, and their accomplishments (based on information submitted by coaches).
Campbell Armstrong, New Canaan Lacrosse: Armstrong finished with 50 goals and 18 assists as a midfielder and was named an All-American.
Bridget Chiaravalle, Danbury Track: Chiaravalle won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 200 dash at the FCIAC championship, won the 100 hurdles at the Class LL championship and won the 100 hurdles and finished second in the 300 hurdles at the State Open.
Caroline Curnal, Ridgefield Lacrosse: Curnal finished with 41 goals, 24 assists, 111 draw controls, 28 ground balls and 10 forced turnovers.
Emma Jaques, Darien Lacrosse: Jaques finished with 56 goals, 23 assists, 33 draw controls and 22 ground balls.
Gabby Laconna, Westhill Softball: Laconna batted .530, with 8 home runs and 21 RBIs, a .600 on-base percentage, 28 runs and 25 stolen bases.
Emily Philippides, Greenwich Track: Philippides won the 800 at the FCIAC, Class LL and State Open championships.
