We have five male and six female finalists for the Athletic Gaines-Ruden Report Male and Female Player of the Week.
The votes will run until noon on Thursday. The winners will receive our Player of the Week T-shirts.
Here are the male finalists:
Harvey Alexander, Wilton Football. Alexander rushed for 209 yards and six touchdowns in a 57-6 win over Westhill.
Michael Hidalgo, Norwalk Soccer. Hidalgo scored as time expired at the end of the second overtime to give the Bears a 2-1 state quarterfinal win over Ridgefield.
Alex Cali, Ridgefield Football. Cali finished with two sacks to set a team record with nine in a season during a 55-8 win over Fairfield Warde.
Owen Shin, New Canaan Football. Shin rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-0 win over Fairfield Ludlowe.
Jaden Shirden, St. Joseph Football. Shirden finished with four touchdowns, three rushing, in a 49-7 win over Brien McMahon.
Here are the female finalists:
Faith Arnold, Ridgefield Soccer. Arnold converted a first-half corner kick to give the Tigers a 1-0 state quarterfinal win over Enfield.
Jessica Mazo, St. Joseph Soccer. Mazo scored twice in the Cadets’ 5-1 state quarterfinal win over Farmington.
Zoe Metalios, Greenwich Field Hockey. Metalios scored goals in state tournament wins over Newtown and Glastonbury.
Andrea O’Connor, Stamford Volleyball. In her final match, O’Connor finished with 24 kills and 11 blocks in a 3-1 loss to Cheshire.
Katie Ramsey, Darien Soccer. Ramsey, who has scored in every state playoff game, had the decisive goal in a 1-0 quarterfinal win over Suffield.
Ava Simunovic, Staples Soccer. Simunovic scored a late goal to give the Wreckers a 1-0 second round win over Fairfield Ludlowe.
