Ty Guarente, an assistant lacrosse coach at Brien McMahon and assistant wrestling coach at Staples, continues to recover from his serious car accident on April 22 that has required several surgeries and left him paralyzed from the waist down.
According to McMahon lacrosse coach Joey Smith, Guarente was moved to Gaylord in Wallingford yesterday to begin rehabilitation.
The Fairfield County athletic community has been rallying around to support Guarente and his family to raise money and defray the costs of his care.
One of the fundraisers, organized by Smith, will take place Saturday. Ty Strong T-shirts will be sold at all FCIAC lacrosse games. They will be available for $15 to coaches and players and $20 for the general public. All profits from the sales go directly to Guarente.
You can also order shirts by emailing Smith at [email protected].
There is also a GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/ty-guarente-fundraiser) for contributions.
