After a long list of memorable accomplishments over the past three months, it is time for you to decide who was the very best of the best. We have selected four outstanding finalists for The Ruden Report FCIAC Fall Team of the Year award.

The winner will receive custom-made Team of the Year T-shirts in school colors courtesy of our sponsors: BlueStreak Sports Training, Karl Chevrolet, Innovative Health and Rehabilitation, Riko’s Pizza, Bobby V’s Sports Bar, Chicken Joe’s of New Canaan, Zody’s 19th Hole, Building Blocks, New Balance of New Canaan, The Concussion Center of Fairfield County, The CT Center for Advanced ENT Care, Coastal Orthopaedics and Resource Management Group.

Here are the finalists and their accomplishments:

DARIEN FIELD HOCKEY: The Blue Wave went 21-1-1 and won both the FCIAC and Class L championships.

NEW CANAAN FOOTBALL: The Rams went 14-1 and won both the FCIAC and Class L championships.

RIDGEFIELD BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: The Tigers won the FCIAC, Class LL and State Open championships and finished second at the New England Championships.

ST. JOSEPH GIRLS SOCCER: The Cadets went 22-0-1 and won both the FCIAC and Class L championships.

Those are the four finalists. You have until noon on Wednesday to select the 2013 Ruden Report FCIAC Fall Team of the Year.




  1. it was very nice of you to have st joseph girls soccer team as one of your nominees.
    you have had them in other polls as well.
    however, do you realize that teams from a small school like st joseph don’t ever stand a chance of winning what is basically a popularity contest.

    • St. Joseph girls are LL. Some teams are good about voting, some don’t get into it. And part of the reason for the vote is that this is also supposed to be fun. Could St. Joseph win this? Looking at the current vote totals absolutely.
