Coach Talk With Kathryn: Episode 4 — Lou Marinelli

In coming up with video projects for my senior interns, I thought it would be fun to have a series of interviews with top FCIAC coaches. For the project to work, I needed an outgoing student who would not be intimidated by the setting.

Ridgefield’s Kathryn Barlow has been working as a social media specialist for The Ruden Report for over a year, and I thought she would be well-suited for the project.

For the fourth episode, Kathryn talks with New Canaan football coach Lou Marinelli about spring football, retiring from teaching and having three Division I players. Kathryn also points out that only one of them won a state title this fall — and it wasn’t Marinelli.

This was a collaborative effort with three senior interns. Gretchen Peters was in charge of production, while Jackson Valente handled the film editing. Special thanks to former Ruden Report intern Natalie Brassinga for the graphic.

Lou mentions in the video that he is retiring from teaching and that a new, good teacher/coach has already been selected.
Did you Lou teach this past year? Also, who is the teacher/coach that has been named to replace him?
I figured this would be BIG news, replacing Lou in that school

    • I’m not sure that retiring from teaching is major news. Right now the replacement wants to keep it private because I am not sure everyone in his former school knows. It is someone people will know.
