Catching Up With … Trinity Catholic’s Cayleigh Griffin

STAMFORD — Sports have always been a big part of Cayleigh Griffin’s life. As a three-year starter, she was part of two FCIAC championship girls basketball teams at Trinity Catholic. As a senior she was named to the All-Conference volleyball team.

Griffin deliberated pursuing one of the sports at the next level before falling in love with Providence College and deciding she didn’t want to compromise her academic and social experiences, not to mention the ability to take a term abroad in Australia that will be a life-long memory.

But Griffin’s love of sports never wavered.

Second-Chance Points: Contrasts In Start To Boys And Girls Seasons

It has been overstated, but if the FCIAC preseason outlook was condensed into a single sentence, it would be: There is Bridgeport Central and a close pack of everyone else.

The first three days did little to change things. As we begin the second week of the season, just five of 19 teams remain unbeaten. Eight are sitting with 1-1 marks and six are still winless; two of those teams, Norwalk and Brien McMahon, have played just once because of byes.

Girls Basketball 2013-14: A Strong Posse In Pursuit of Danbury

There seems to be more of a buzz on the eve of the new FCIAC girls basketball season than in recent years.

Perhaps it is because there appears to be more good teams in the upper echelon.

Danbury has defeated Trumbull the past two years in the championship game. There is a pack of talented teams harboring realistic chances of getting the opportunity to play for the title in February.

Catching Up With… Norwalk’s Emma Oyomba

When I first decided to launch my own website, one of the repeated suggestions was a “Where are they now,” series. Readers love to know what the former high school athletes they followed are now doing.

Thus the seeds were planted for “Catching Up With…”

And deciding on the first person to profile, Emma Oyomba was the prefect candidate.
