Thomas Broschardt, the wide receivers coach at Pace University, has been named the new football coach at Trinity Catholic.
Broschardt takes over for Donny Panapada, who stepped down in December. In six seasons Panapada had a record of 25-39. Panapada had to deal with the rapidly declining enrollment at the school, which reduced the number of players and made it difficult to compete in the FCIAC.
Trinity has been exploring remedies, such as possibly co-opting with Wright Tech in Stamford.
A graduate of Sacred Heart University, where he played quarterback and wide receiver, Broschardt has also been an assistant at Western Connecticut, SUNY Maritime and Union College.
“I’ve been around Trinity for a number of years,” Broschardt said in a press release sent out by the school. “I’ve recruited Trinity kids for colleges. They bring great academic profiles. They’ve been coached hard by Donnie and others. They have a “no-quit” attitude playing against these bigger schools. I’m excited to be here and be family at Trinity.”
